8TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE MARKET CELEBRATION
Live music by accordionist, Julie Council Julie's love affair with the accordion began at the age of nine. She learned the "Beer Barrel Polka" early on because it was her uncle's favorite song and he would give her a couple of dollars to play it when she went to visit him a couple of times a year. Julie, who received a music degree from the University of Houston with accordion as her major instrument, played her first professional job at an Oktoberfest at Mayer's Old Europe in Slidell in the early 80's. Since then she has played either individually or in bands all the way from San Destin FL to Eunice LA. She was the first accordion player to perform at the Deutsches Haus, and has performed at countless venues in the United States and Europe.
